Pasta Sauce
This is my go-to recipe for tomato sauces. It can be modified or used as is and is excellent on its own or with a protein.

Ingredients
Sauce
4 cups tomato pasata
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1 1/2 tbsp dried basil
1/4 tsp dried chili flakes
Pasta Sauce Directions
In a pot or large skillet add your butter, and let it melt over medium-high heat. If you want to use an oil instead, go for it, but I find that the butter adds a really nice flavour.
Add in your pasata. (You can use just a few cans of crushed tomatoes). Add in your salt (however if you're buying store-bought pasata make sure that you look at the salt content). Add your pepper, and spices.
Give the sauce a stir to incorporate the entire mixture. Turn the heat down to medium-low and let it reduce to the thickness you want.
If you want to add onions or garlic to this recipe, go for it. I would add them right after the butter goes in. And if you want to add any veggies add those in once the onions have softened a bit and started to become translucent.
